Chapter 18 Li Wei's Lunch
Chapter 18 Li Wei's Lunch
Ever since Li Wei learned that he only had one month to live, he decided to be a positive, optimistic person who would live however he wanted.
Even though the system turned one month into three years, he still had no intention of changing it.
As I said before, Li Wei decided to live life to the fullest, following his own pace.
So, Li Wei didn't stay in an EMO for long. He quickly stood up, dusted himself off, and prepared to go back.
Just as he left the abandoned textile factory, his phone suddenly rang.
When I took it out, the nickname "Idiot" on the caller ID shone brightly in the afternoon sunlight.
As soon as Li Wei pressed the answer button, Wesker's slightly arrogant voice came out.
"Hey! Idiot! What do you think Claude did to lure you away?"
Li Wei's heart almost stopped for a moment.
It's a diversionary tactic!
"There's a second assassin! Claude is creating an opportunity for that bastard!"
"Yes, that's right, but that idiot is no longer a 'problem'."
Wesker's voice became even more arrogant, even carrying a hint of boastfulness.
Li Wei breathed a sigh of relief and started walking again.
"So, you called to ask me to thank you?"
"No, I want you to admit that you're an idiot."
"Okay, thank you."
Levi decided to proceed at his own pace, rather than following Wesker's wishes.
"Hey! You..."
Li Wei hung up the phone before Wesker could finish speaking.
Then, a delicate shout came from behind.
"Drop your weapons! Lie face down with your hands behind your head!"
Li Wei glanced back and saw a blonde woman about his age pointing a Glock 17 at him.
Just by the way she held the gun, Li Wei knew that the blonde woman was a local police officer.
Li Wei looked at the almost deserted street and figured that someone must have called the police when he was running around with the gun earlier.
"Do as I say right now! Don't make me say it twice!"
The blonde policewoman opened the safety lock while Li Wei was thinking.
Wow! You've got quite a temper!
And they're not very polite.
However, killing her wouldn't be necessary, but Li Wei didn't intend to pay her any attention.
Li Wei turned around and strode away.
The next moment, Li Wei didn't hear a gunshot, but felt a gust of wind behind his head.
Li Wei bent down and instinctively delivered a roundhouse kick backward.
He was wearing special military boots with steel plates sandwiched between the heel and toe; a kick to a vital spot could be fatal.
So, after he realized what was happening, he lowered the height slightly, and the heel of that foot stopped kicking towards his neck.
"Bang!"
With a muffled thud, the policewoman clutched her chest and knelt on the ground.
Clearly, she hadn't expected Li Wei to react so quickly and retaliate so accurately.
Seeing this, Li Wei shrugged and walked away, just like when he encountered a child asking for candy on the street on Halloween, and instead of giving him candy, Li Wei kicked him to the side of the road.
"Stop...or...I'll shoot..."
Even though she was lying on the ground, in so much pain that she could barely speak, the blonde policewoman still stubbornly raised her gun.
Of course, having constantly shaking hands is another matter entirely.
Li Wei was immediately shocked.
The impact on Li Wei was no less than seeing that brat who asked him for candy, was kicked two meters away by him, got up, dusted himself off, and immediately rushed up again for candy.
Based on this tolerance for pain and dedication to his duty, Li Wei decided to be more polite.
He turned around and knelt down in front of the blonde policewoman.
The policewoman immediately raised her gun and pointed it at Li Wei's abdomen.
Li Wei grabbed the bolt of the other man's gun and, with a pull and a lift, dismantled the Glock 17 from his hand.
Li Wei casually pulled out the spring and threw it into the roadside ditch, telling a lie.
"Officer, my name is Thomas Garrard. I am on a military mission. If you have any questions, please report to your superiors."
"Of course, I think the outcome will be nothing more than your superior continuing to report to their superior, and in the end, nothing will be done or you will receive a stern warning."
"Do you understand?"
After saying that, Li Wei ignored the blonde policewoman and got up to leave.
This time, Li Wei's journey went smoothly.
This was within Li Wei's expectations.
Regardless of whether the other party believes his story, just considering that solid roundhouse kick he delivered, even if Claude were to come back to life, he would be lying in bed for half a day after taking just one hit.
For Li Wei, this was just a trivial matter, so he didn't take it to heart.
However, when he returned to the makeshift operations room and saw Wesker devour two lobsters and two steaks all by himself, he took it to heart.
"Hey! You old codger, you didn't leave any for me!"
"belch--!"
Wesker let out an annoying burp and then acted as if it were perfectly normal.
"Is this the first day you've met me? Besides, lobster and steak don't taste good when they're cold."
"You old bastard!"
Considering Wesker had dealt with Claude's backup plan, Levi didn't hold it against him. Instead, he picked up the satellite phone Thomas had provided and dialed the number.
"Hey Thomas, send me a lobster and a steak. The lobster has to be Australian, and the steak has to be 'excellent' grade."
"I know you're not a delivery driver, so just tell me, are you delivering or not?"
"Very good, the rooftop opposite Marriott Spring and Autumn."
After saying that, Li Wei hung up the phone and gave Wesker a rather smug look.
Wesker smacked his lips.
"Actually, I think I can eat some more. You should ask him to send me another serving."
Li Wei glared at him.
"If you want to eat, just call and order takeout!"
Wesker fell silent; he didn't dare compete with Levi in this regard. After all, he planned to live another thirty or fifty years and had no interest in creating trouble for himself.
About thirty minutes later, Li Wei saw a Lincoln Navigator drive around the building three times before finding a public parking space and parking in it.
Then, Thomas got out of the car, carrying a black umbrella and a brown paper bag, and hurriedly ran into the building.
Ten minutes later, Thomas pushed open the door to the rooftop.
Why do you always carry an umbrella?
Before Thomas could speak, Li Wei asked a question first.
Thomas's complaints were forced back down.
Out of politeness, Thomas had no choice but to answer Levi's question first.
"My suit is custom-made and very expensive, but it can't get wet in the rain, otherwise it will shrink."
After he finished explaining, he was about to say something more when Li Wei interrupted him again.
"The killer problem has been solved."
Thomas immediately forgot his complaints and began to ask questions with some disbelief.
"Really?"
Are you sure?
"Could this just be a trap to lower our guard?"
Li Wei snatched the brown paper bag from Thomas's hand, opened it to check if Thomas had really chosen "Australian Lobster" and "Excellent" as he had requested, and then asked Thomas a question in return.
"Do you think you're more professional in this area than Wesker and I?"
Thomas obediently shut his mouth.
Li Wei began to enjoy his lunch.
Wesker couldn't help but swallow hard as he smelled the aroma of steak and lobster.
But after glancing at Thomas and being reluctant to pay for it himself, he decided to see if he could snatch some from Levi to try, even if it meant getting beaten up.
Meanwhile, the delegation, who had rested for a while and had lunch, boarded the bus and began their journey to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
According to the schedule, this afternoon is for a visit, tomorrow is a full day of symposiums, and then the delegation will return home.
