Chapter 27: We've Found You
Chapter 27: We've Found You
In the dimly lit alley, Lee Ethan cornered a fat white man.
"Tell me how to contact those people."
"I really don't know, I don't know anything, I've never heard of any European girl."
Lee Esen flashed a bright smile.
"I didn't say she was a European girl. How do you know she's European?"
The fat man named Reiner instantly showed fear because the policeman drew his gun, and the policewoman next to him not only did not stop him, but also picked up her notebook and started taking notes.
Damn it, both of them are crazy cops. Crazy! Do prostitutes need to kill people?
The next second, the pistol magazine was pulled out, and the metallic feel of it was in Reiner's palm. It was going to leave fingerprints, which terrified him.
"No, no, no, you can't frame me."
Li Yisen said coldly.
"Tell me, or you'll be shot dead by my comrades for trying to steal my gun."
Evelyn cooperatively drew her pistol, startling Reiner.
"I'll tell you, my phone number is XXXX, but they're not open for business right now. They told me to leave my number and wait for their notification."
Did you keep it?
Leiner swallowed hard.
"I'll stay. After all, it's hard to find such a high-quality and affordable place outside of Los Angeles."
In front of the other person, Lee Ethan picked up Reiner's phone and made a call, then handed the phone back to its owner.
"Why is it you again? Didn't we say we'd wait for your notification? Just give us your address and we'll deliver it to your door."
"I just can't wait for it to reopen."
"Let's wait. You're not a millionaire, it's not worth the risk."
After hanging up the phone, Li Yisen returned the phone to the man who looked like he had just survived a disaster.
"Tell me about a seasoned traveler like yourself, and if they contact you, remember to tell me."
"..."
Reiner quickly fled for his life, and Evelyn then put away her pistol and asked.
"Senior, if the other party doesn't tell you, will you really kill him?"
"Evelyn, did you not get enough sleep last night? Do I look like the kind of person who would kill someone over something so trivial?"
Lee Esen only intended to scare the other party. Turning off his body camera during working hours and shooting a "gun snatcher" would definitely raise suspicions and cause a lot of trouble.
I really want to be promoted to detective soon so I don't have to wear a body camera every day.
.
Two days passed quickly.
"Bang"
The refined-looking man hurriedly fled, and Li Yisen crossed out a name in his notebook.
"There are two more names."
Li Yisen couldn't help but sigh. Although there was a direction for the investigation, it was still fraught with difficulties. He had contacted nearly 10 experienced migrant workers, but none of them could make contact with the human traffickers.
Did we return empty-handed?
Lee Ethan wasn't too disappointed, after all, he had already assessed the possibility of failure. Even Sherlock Holmes might fail, right?
"Let's go, next one."
"Uh-huh."
Evelyn seemed indifferent; finding people and patrolling were pretty much the same thing anyway. She was actually looking forward to when she would finish her probation period, as her superiors had told her about it not long ago.
The case in the mountainous area was considered a high-risk mission for her, and she might receive an honorary award, which, although not a medal, was something that trainee police officers could only dream of.
When Ethan and his partner found the next person, they were stunned because they recognized the man next to him. He had seen him in The Shining, the disheveled homeless man.
Just when you think you've reached the end of the road, a new path opens up before you.
Lee Ethan glanced at his listless partner and ultimately decided not to take him to find this breakthrough point. Instead, he took a picture and sent it to Jacob, who was far away in the county headquarters' cybersecurity department.
"Jacob, help me find out who this person is."
"You should treat me to a meal."
"no problem."
Soon they got the information about the homeless man, Calvin, who used to have a good job and a son. After divorcing his wife, he not only left with nothing but also had to pay child support to his wife, even after she got married and continued to support his wife and the guy who cheated on him.
Ultimately, Calvin chose to go bankrupt and become homeless. Now he works odd jobs and has found a run-down place to stay, just like Sakamoto, whom America often sees.
It's already on the verge of being killed.
.
That evening, Calvin muttered a curse as he strolled in the park.
"That damn bitch wouldn't serve me, so I just asked for a refund. Instead, she threatened to jump off a building, and I haven't slept well for two days."
Suddenly, a tremendous force dragged Calvin into the bushes, giving him no time to struggle, and fists rained down on him.
"Bang bang bang bang"
The man, his face bruised and swollen, pleaded desperately.
"Stop hitting me, stop hitting me, I'll give you anything you want."
"Calvin, you live at XXXX. Do you remember the girl who jumped off the building in front of you two days ago?"
Upon hearing this, the wailing man immediately shut up, his wide eyes filled with disbelief. How did the other party know? Could it be those people?
The next second, he felt the metallic touch on his forehead; a pistol was pointed at him.
"I need to find the organizers of the silver-selling operation and tell them a way to find them, or I'll die."
"Don't shoot, don't shoot, I'll talk."
Calvin was terrified.
"They said the money couldn't be refunded, but they could arrange for another woman to come to my home. I haven't used her because I've been having nightmares."
Li Yisen suppressed his joy upon hearing this; finally, there was progress. As patrol officers, they couldn't investigate openly, so the investigation was progressing quite quickly.
"Contact them and ask them to send someone over. If you do, this thousand is yours. You'll get another thousand after it's done."
The man, who was initially fearful, suddenly became excited upon seeing the money.
"I will definitely cooperate. I will contact them right now."
"Don't leave any loopholes."
"rest assured."
.
The sound of a car engine hummed, and a burly man in a leather jacket led a 17-year-old girl in. The girl's expression was somewhat numb, and she had some bruises on her body.
"What a terrible environment, damn poor people."
Although the big man cursed, he did not turn back.
Don't be fooled by their practice of forcing women into prostitution; they are very trustworthy with their clients and always provide compensation as promised. Otherwise, how could they operate in this area?
Soon the door was pushed open, and Calvin came out.
"One hour, you know."
"I see."
The burly man turned and left, leaving the helpless girl staring at the "customer" in front of her.
"Come in quickly."
The door closed, and just as the girl was habitually taking off her clothes, a man emerged from the corner, startling her so much that she backed away.
"No, it was agreed that it would be just one person, I'm not doing it."
The girl feared that she might suffer the same fate as some of her peers, being beaten and abused by perverts.
The next second, Li Yisen covered the other person's mouth.
"Don't worry, I'm a police officer."
police?
The girl, realizing what was happening, showed a look of surprise and delight.
"You've come to save me?"
"It's not just you, it's all of you. All those who have been abducted will be rescued. Let's talk."
Thirty minutes later, as Lee Ethan revealed his plan, the girl named Sophie shook her head.
"I don't want to go back. Can you just take me with you?"
Lee Ethan ruthlessly shattered the other person's fantasy.
"No, you alone are not enough to testify. Our police cannot provide you with protection. At most, we can only deport you back to your country, or even just let you go."
"No, no, no, I don't want to go back to China."
Sophie was abducted in her own country, and the perpetrators have considerable influence there, so she could very well be taken back.
Li Yisen held the other person's hand, and the warmth of the body made him feel safe.
"Trust me, I will get you out of here."
Finally, the girl mustered her courage and nodded. She was willing to take the risk if it could save the others, since she had no other choice.
