Chapter 1 Equipment Slots
Chapter 1 Equipment Slots
The soul is like being thrown into a stormy ocean, consciousness churning and spinning amidst towering waves and raging storm.
The memories of two different lives, as the rapid raindrops relentlessly pounded on Viktor's consciousness, gradually formed a complete personality.
After an unknown amount of time, Viktor opened his eyes.
He covered his still slightly feverish forehead with one hand, struggled to get out of bed, reached for the kettle on the table, took a big gulp of water, and felt the water flow soothe his dry throat.
After a few seconds, Viktor gave a wry smile:
"I knew I wasn't quite right in the head... turns out I'd traveled through time..."
In my mind, the two memories were still intertwining and merging, but the intensity of the previous memories had subsided, and it seemed that the merging was finally coming to an end.
A memory comes from a past life.
A test-taker from a small town, he got into a top university in the province, but gave up a stable job and chose to become a special correspondent.
He has been to battlefields where war is raging, walked through primeval jungles, explored mysterious castles and tombs, and of course interviewed many important figures.
But what he loves most is exploring new things and discovering the strange stories of this world.
So, during his last interview trip, he sank into the sea along with the entire ship.
Another memory belongs to the world today.
As a member of the Feltrol family, Victor showed his difference from his peers from the day he was born.
He learns and understands things much faster than his peers, and often comes up with ingenious ideas that others can hardly predict. The whole family has high hopes for him, and even though he is not the eldest son, many family members still try to make him the heir to the Duchy of Feltro... if the whole family hadn't been overthrown later because they offended a powerful wizard.
A year ago, he had already become an ordinary mortal.
In order to avoid being eliminated by those greedy people, Victor set his sights on the only chance he could change his fate again—to become a wizard!
So three days ago, Victor of this world took the entrance exam for the Morning Star Wizarding Academy, successfully enrolled with excellent grades, mastered the basics of Morning Star Meditation, awakened his magic, and successfully transformed from a mortal into a high-ranking wizard.
As a genius who showed great talent from a young age, this achievement was not unexpected for Viktor.
However, the memories that remained deep in his soul from his previous life were awakened by the magic he had cultivated through meditation... The changes deep in his soul were reflected in his body, and he immediately fell ill and went back to bed, where he remained for three days.
Just now, the two memories and life experiences finally merged together, forming a new Victor.
Viktor accepted the situation quite easily.
From the perspective of the previous life, there's nothing wrong with being reborn. From the perspective of this life, gaining decades of knowledge and experience out of thin air isn't a bad thing either... Besides, both of them were originally him.
Knock knock—!
Suddenly, a soft knock on the door interrupted Viktor's thoughts.
He looked up at the door, but before he could speak, the door was pushed open, and a tall, muscular man with brown hair and a straight posture walked in.
Although dressed in simple casual clothes, he still exuded an imposing aura. His muscles filled out the clothes, his face was resolute, his gaze was serious, and he walked as if he were on a military march.
He was carrying a bag in his hand, and his gaze fell on Viktor sitting at the table in the room. His serious expression was broken by surprise:
"Your Highness...why did you get out of bed?"
After saying that, she quickly walked over and tried to help Victor back to bed.
But before he could reach out, Victor raised his hand to block him:
"Don't help me, Gar."
"I'm fine now."
"But......"
Gar hesitated. As a knight, he wasn't very good at reading people, so he didn't know if the person in front of him was just putting on a brave face or if he was really alright.
Sensing Viktor's resolute attitude, he hesitated for a moment before withdrawing his hand and taking a step back.
He bowed slightly and handed the bag to Viktor.
"As you wish... Your Highness."
"However, please drink this healing potion. I bought it from a pharmacy in the city. It is said to be the work of a senior apprentice and should be helpful for your problem."
Viktor couldn't help but look at his guardian knight in front of him.
When he was five years old in this life, the sixteen-year-old knight apprentice Garr had already sworn allegiance to him and has remained so ever since.
Even when his family declined, his clansmen scattered, and his former servants and guards disappeared, he was no longer a "Your Highness," yet they still followed him loyally.
Although with the strength of that high knight, as long as he doesn't provoke the wizard, he can become a superior person anywhere...
"It must have cost a lot of money, right?"
Viktor sighed softly, but did not refuse, and reached out to take the item.
A resolute glint flashed in Garr's eyes:
"If it can make His Highness better, any amount of money is worth it."
Viktor shook his head, not intending to waste the loyal knight's good intentions. After all, he had been seriously ill these past few days and was still aching all over. This healing potion could indeed help him recover quickly and return to the academy to continue his studies.
As for the value of the healing potion itself... as long as he can successfully grow into a qualified wizard, the value of a bottle of potion is naturally negligible.
With that thought in mind, Victor opened the bag containing the medicine and reached out to pick it up.
Just as he was about to open the potion and drink it all, a screen of light suddenly appeared before his eyes:
[Equipable item detected: Healing Potion]
[Equipping this item grants the attribute: Breathing Healing Technique Lv1 — Restores 0.001% of maximum health per second]
[Requirement for consuming equipment: Accumulate and restore 100% of maximum health]
[Select equipment?]
Viktor's hand holding the potion paused involuntarily. He held his breath, his gaze fixed on the panel that had suddenly appeared before him, completely out of place in this world. His heart began to race.
What is this? My belated hanging up?
He turned to look at Gar beside him, trying to read something from his face.
Kogal calmly met his gaze, then asked with some doubt:
"Your Highness, is there a problem with this potion?"
Gar can't see it?
Can only I see it?
"It's nothing..."
Viktor managed to control his expression, calmly shaking his head and replying, but inside he was in turmoil.
After a few seconds, he forced himself to calm down and said:
"By the way, I've been in bed these past few days and haven't eaten much. I'm suddenly feeling a bit hungry. Could you go and get me something to eat?"
"Yes, Your Highness."
Garr didn't hesitate. He had done this kind of thing many times over the past year, so there was no issue of the dignity of a great knight. He agreed, turned around, pushed open the door, and walked out.
The footsteps outside the door gradually faded away.
Viktor looked down at the floating panel in front of him again, trying to figure it out.
He quickly figured out some of the operations, such as how the panel could be summoned or hidden at any time, and how almost none of the items in the room had panels... He studied it for a while, then summoned the panel again:
[Equipable item detected: Healing Potion]
[Equipped?]
Viktor didn't hesitate any longer, silently reciting in his mind:
"equipment!"
As soon as he confirmed it, the healing potion he had been holding vanished from his palm in an instant, and the message on the panel in front of him changed accordingly:
