Chapter 30 Mini-Map
Chapter 30 Mini-Map
"funds?"
Viktor frowned slightly upon hearing this.
But instead of giving Garr an answer immediately, he lowered his head, reached out and opened the package, revealing its contents to his eyes:
"Wait a minute, Gar."
Garr naturally had no objections and stood there waiting for a reply after hearing Viktor's words.
Viktor, however, had already focused his attention on what was in front of him, but his mood was not very pleasant.
the reason is simple.
There were four items in total, but two of them failed to trigger the equipment notification in the corner of his eye.
This means that these two items cannot be equipped, so they are no different from trash to him.
Fortunately, two other items popped up as reminders, proving that Viper hadn't come away empty-handed this week, otherwise Viktor would have had Garr cut this guy to pieces... But since he'd already gotten the goods, whether it's a reward or a punishment depends on the value of the items!
Viktor picked up the two worthless junk items and tossed them aside, then turned his gaze to the first equipable item on the table.
It was an oval-shaped item, entirely white, with a crystal-like texture, but its specific function wasn't immediately apparent, so Viktor looked at the item's control panel:
[Equipable item detected: Cave Monster's Eyeball]
[Equipping this item grants the following attribute: Minimap Lv1 — When equipped, it automatically activates a radar minimap within a certain range in your mind, displaying enemy and friendly forces, as well as simplified terrain information.]
[Requirement for absorbing equipment: Survive for three days while blind]
[Replace this equipment?]
"Huh? Interesting!"
Viktor's gaze swept over the entries provided by this thing, and an expression of interest appeared on his face.
This thing that looks like a stone is actually the eyeball of a cave monster... Although this monster isn't as famous as some others, it's still one that wizards are relatively familiar with.
Because of its strong attraction to demons, it often appears in various magic stone mines.
Therefore, it's inevitable that you'll have a lot of dealings with wizards.
As for their strength... it doesn't seem to be weak.
Generally speaking, if you want to reliably deal with a cave monster, you need at least a team of several wizard apprentices to use continuous magic to restrict the cave monster's movement and deliver a fatal blow.
Otherwise, in the underground environment, the cave monsters can retreat quickly and launch attacks, which is indeed difficult for wizards who like to act alone, and there are quite a few wizard apprentices who have died at the hands of such creatures.
But is this guy's eye really like that?
Victor hadn't looked into the details, but he sensed that it was probably due to the ecological environment, coupled with adaptive changes from consuming too much magic ore... This kind of monster research was very popular at Dawnstar Academy, and many combat-oriented wizard apprentices studied it, since intelligence could sometimes determine victory or defeat, or even life or death.
However, it wasn't the right time to test the specific effects of this thing. Victor nodded slightly, put down the eyeball of the cave monster, and looked at something else.
This is a small but exquisite ring, with gemstones set on its surface, making it look quite valuable. However, the effect it brings when equipped is far inferior to another one:
[Equipable item detected: Gem Ring]
[Equipping this item grants the attribute: Wealth Perception Lv1 — Within a certain range, you can detect the scent of unclaimed wealth.]
[Requirement for absorbing equipment: Acquire a valuable treasure]
[Replace this equipment?]
Clearly, in terms of effect alone, it is not as valuable to Victor as the eyeball of the previous cave monster... After all, not to mention that this thing has a distance limitation, for wizards, the wealth that mortals dream of is mostly insignificant to them.
Therefore, for this entry to be useful, Viktor must be made to perceive wealth that is useful to him.
However, the key point is that this entry also has the restriction of "must be unclaimed", which makes it impossible for Viktor to even pick up any leftovers. So it is indeed a relatively useless one, at least Viktor can't use it for the time being.
However, to be fair, the conditions for this thing to be devoured don't seem too difficult to meet. It's the type that can be devoured directly once the conditions are met, rather than the type that requires time to process.
If it's easy to successfully devour an item without interfering with the use of the equipment slots, then it's worth doing.
These functional terms, though mostly useless, might bring unexpected surprises if they do come in handy.
Victor put the thing down as well, intending to study it later.
He turned his head, looked at Garr, pondered for a moment, and then spoke:
"I'll give you five more magic stones, Garr."
"Give this to Viper for me... but warn him that while I've met his request, I'm not satisfied with what he brought. If he sends another pile of junk next time..."
"I'm not sure if I have the patience to wait."
He looked at Garr and gently raised his chin.
Garr understood and nodded vigorously:
"I understand, Your Highness... I will warn him!"
"Hmm... But warnings are warnings, there's no need to provoke conflict. Just let this guy know what's going on."
Viktor chuckled softly.
Looking at the knight in front of him, he realized that Garr was indeed reliable and put his mind at ease.
Unfortunately, Victor was really worried about letting him collect magical items. After all, Vivian needed someone to keep an eye on her, otherwise, with Gar's dutiful nature, he would definitely be able to get some good stuff for himself!
It's just a pity... the other party has cultivated the Knight's Body Tempering Technique.
If the opponent wasn't strong enough, it wouldn't matter, but the opponent has already become a Grand Knight, with a life seed condensed in their body, which interferes with the generation of magic power, causing meditation to fail and making it impossible to become a wizard through normal means.
Otherwise, after he entered Morning Star Academy, he should have found a way to make Gar a wizard as well.
Now, however, he had to think of other ways... Viktor hadn't had any clue before, but having witnessed something new today, he couldn't help but secretly wonder if Manugs's body alchemy technology was reliable, perhaps he could help Gar with some body modifications as well...
But there's no rush... Viktor kept his thoughts to himself.
After all, he hasn't even started learning about physical alchemy yet, and he still needs some time to figure it out.
If in the end I find that the situation is under control, then as long as I have the ability, I will not forget this knight!
