Chapter 43 Mastery Level Potions
Chapter 43 Mastery Level Potions
The old wizard Cheshire moved away slowly, seemingly slowly, but in reality, he quickly walked out of the tower.
The flower spirits were still busily flying around in the warehouse, but the two wizard apprentices exchanged a glance. Instead of starting work immediately, they approached Victor's workbench and tentatively asked:
"Excuse me, friend, do you know this Lord Cheshire?"
Victor glanced up at them, his hands still busy, as he picked up a box of potions and placed it beside him, replying:
"I know him, so what?"
Upon hearing this answer, the two immediately exchanged a glance.
Immediately afterwards, she flashed a slightly ingratiating smile and tried to continue the conversation with Viktor:
"I see."
"Excuse me, my friend, as you just saw, it seems we two have offended Lord Cheshire, so we're a bit curious about his identity."
"If possible, friend, could you tell us something?"
"Feel sorry."
Victor shook his head without hesitation:
"I still have work to do. If you want to know about Lord Cheshire, why don't you ask him directly?"
After saying that, he ignored the ugly looks on the two apprentices' faces, turned around and started adjusting the alchemy equipment. His meaning was clear: don't bother him unless it's absolutely necessary.
"..."
The two apprentices choked for a moment, and their expressions turned somewhat unpleasant.
But to be honest, they also didn't have the confidence to lose their temper or anything, and they didn't even dare to think about showing any displeasure to Victor, for fear of angering the old wizard Cheshire again and being taught a lesson.
After standing next to Viktor for a while, the two returned to their respective worktables and began preparing for work, albeit somewhat reluctantly.
Viktor glanced at them out of the corner of his eye and couldn't help but shake his head inwardly.
In fact, Morningstar Academy's teaching philosophy is not without its flaws.
Because the relatively relaxed wizarding environment ensured the safety and access to resources for apprentices most of the time, apart from those who enrolled voluntarily, the number of wizarding seeds offered up inevitably resulted in some varying quality.
Although he hadn't had much contact with these two apprentices, Victor could roughly discern their backgrounds from their every move—small-town youths, noble births, and privileged upbringings.
However, they also share similar personalities: they are prone to misjudging their own situation, are self-centered, and lack the ability to discern danger and perceive crisis.
Having only a superficial understanding of the wizarding world, even if one does understand it, it's difficult to integrate into it quickly.
If this were placed in other wizarding factions, not to mention the distant ones, but just in Thousand Eyes City, an apprentice of this caliber probably wouldn't survive more than three months before becoming nourishment for other wizarding apprentices.
Yet they still seem to be living a very comfortable life at Morning Star Academy.
However, Victor estimated that with their level of skill, these two would only stay in the academy for a year or two if they were lucky, and then they would be eliminated by the academy's assessment... There are plenty of these kinds of people in Morningstar City; the academy eliminates a dozen or even dozens of such apprentices every year.
If you're lucky, you might be able to find a job in one of those wizarding families or merchant guilds.
If you're unlucky, you might become a wild wizard, wandering the world, and one day a mortal might drug and kill you.
So let alone making friends, Viktor felt that even talking to them for a few minutes was a waste of time.
Fortunately, the two apprentices were somewhat self-aware and stopped coming over after realizing he was unwilling to talk to them. This allowed Victor to concentrate on studying the potion in his hand and refining it.
......
The process of refining a potion actually involves relatively few steps.
It generally consists of three steps: removing excess or harmful parts from the potion, rendering the valuable parts harmless, and finally purifying, refining, and packaging the potion as needed.
It sounds simple, but the simplest part is just the first step.
Even this simplest step requires a wizard to control their own magic, as they need to remove parts of the potion without damaging the potion as a whole.
But this didn't stump Viktor.
He picked up a rat spirit root potion. This potion grew underground and was shaped like a rat's tail, but its surface had green spots and emitted a very faint magical power, which could produce a glow in the dark.
The green spots on it are actually the way this magical herb draws its magic power, and it contains a little bit of toxins.
So Victor's first step was to remove these green spots.
But before taking action, Victor didn't forget to check the panel... The result was not unexpected. This potion, which had already been processed, was not recognized as equipment and could not be equipped in the equipment slot to obtain the attribute.
He wasn't disappointed, after all, he had expected it.
He closed the panel, then bent down and carefully picked up his tools, using magic as a means of detection, and began working with complete concentration... About seven minutes later, Victor had finished processing the potion.
The Rat Spirit Root, a magical potion, has no other harmful parts besides its green spots, so it can be washed and placed in the refining device.
This step doesn't require Viktor to be too attentive; he just needs to pay attention to the time and heat, and finally, don't forget to bottle it.
After finishing the first potion, Victor turned his head to glance at the remaining potions in the alley and silently calculated the time:
"After removing this rat spirit root, there are still about fifteen magic potions left."
"If it takes fifteen minutes to process one potion, that means it will take me at least three to four hours?"
Viktor frowned slightly; this was taking longer than initially expected.
However, he quickly composed himself, because the task was actually not more difficult than he had expected; it was entirely within his skill level.
Moreover, this was his first time handling potions, so his technique was inevitably clumsy and his movements were not smooth. If he could get used to it, he should be able to finish processing these things within three hours.
With that in mind, Victor no longer hesitated, quickly grabbed another potion from the box, placed it on the workbench, and began processing it.
After three hours of non-stop work, when only one potion remained in the box, Victor was suddenly stopped by a notification on the panel.
Upon opening the panel, Viktor couldn't help but show a hint of joy in his eyes.
This notification wasn't just any notification; it indicated that, through his recent efforts, his potion-making skill had finally increased his proficiency by one level.
Your skill 'Basic Potions' has reached maximum proficiency and has been upgraded to Mastery level {1/10000}.
