Chapter 12 A 32-Year-Old Woman
Chapter 12 A 32-Year-Old Woman
"I don't really like drinking."
Su Jie shook his head. "If you want to drink, Sister Man, I can have a drink with you."
"Then let's have two passion fruit drinks."
Xu Qingman smiled and handed the tablet to the waiter next to her, "I'm getting old, unlike you Gen Z kids. You can just not drink if you don't want to. In the future, those wineries won't be able to sell their products."
"Beautiful lady, you don't look old at all!"
As I helped confirm the order, the waitress next to me smiled and remarked, "She looks like she's in her early twenties. Not only is she beautiful, but she also has a great presence!"
Xu Qingman smiled and nodded, "Thank you!"
"Handsome guys and beautiful girls, that's the condiment area over there, and there are also free fruits and snacks."
The waiter smiled and said, "If you need anything, just call me."
Watching the waiter leave, Su Jie smiled and said, "This is my first time here, and the service is indeed quite good."
Xu Qingman stood up. "Let's go get the condiment dishes!"
Upon arriving at the condiment area, the two got their favorite dipping sauces and some fruit.
Back at his seat, Su Jie asked, "Sister Man, I see you're traveling all over the country on your WeChat Moments. Is it fun?"
"It's not exactly fun; you get tired of seeing it after a while."
Xu Qingman shook her head. "I just want to see different scenery and broaden my horizons."
Su Jie was somewhat envious. "I've never left Sichuan in my entire life, nor have I ever seen the grasslands or the sea."
Xu Qingman smiled and said, "You are still young now, and you have a long time ahead of you."
Su Jie nodded in agreement, "That's what I think too. While we're young, we should go out and see more of the world."
Xu Qingman asked, "I noticed you haven't posted anything on WeChat Moments. What do you do for a living?"
"I used to be a test-taker in a small town, but I didn't make a name for myself."
Su Jie chuckled self-deprecatingly, "It's been a year since I graduated from university, and I've been living in a daze. There's nothing to commemorate!"
Taking this opportunity, he briefly explained his situation.
Including the passing of my maternal grandmother.
This includes breaking up with his ex-girlfriend.
Xu Qingman said with some emotion, "You've had it pretty tough too."
Su Jie asked curiously, "Sister Man, what do you do for a living?"
"I'll do anything."
Xu Qingman replied with a smile, "I run companies, speculate in stocks, and also operate physical stores. I do whatever makes money."
As they were talking, the dishes they had ordered were brought over.
Su Jie smiled and invited, "Sister Man, let's eat and chat."
Xu Qingman picked up a piece of tripe, "Then I won't be polite."
The two ate and chatted, and the topics were quite simple.
Xu Qingman didn't talk about her company or her business acumen; she just chatted about some interesting things in her life.
Su Jie mostly listened, occasionally interjecting with a comment.
The difference between him and the woman in front of him was too great.
I have limited knowledge and don't understand many things.
Being glib and smooth-talking wasn't his intention, and saying too much about it wouldn't make any sense.
Suddenly, Xu Qingman asked, "Do you like me?"
Unexpectedly, the woman asked so directly. Su Jie was not a seasoned player in love, so he remained silent for a moment.
"I'm quite busy with work."
Xu Qingman slowly picked up a piece of spicy beef, "I'm flying to Shanghai for a business trip tomorrow!"
Su Jie smiled and nodded. "Sister Man, you're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. Isn't it normal for me to like you?"
Xu Qingman smiled confidently and said, "I've heard that sentence at least ten times!"
Su Jie shook his head. "I will say this a hundred times, a thousand times!"
Xu Qingman paused for a moment, then asked, "Why did you try to strike up a conversation with me yesterday?"
My grandmother passed away a few days ago.
Looking at the woman, Su Jie slowly said, "Yesterday, my ex-girlfriend and I officially broke up, which taught me a lot."
Xu Qingman asked curiously, "What's the reasoning behind it?"
Life is only once, and time, once gone, will never return.
Su Jie smiled faintly, his voice sincere and composed, "Some things, once missed, are truly missed."
"But why did we miss it?"
"It's because we're all trapped by an invisible wall."
"What actually traps us isn't others, but the high wall within our own hearts!"
"Life is like a wild goose flying across the snow, leaving its footprints everywhere."
"With whom do I sit? The bright moon, the gentle breeze, and myself."
"Born to please yourself, not to be bound by others!"
He paused for a moment, then continued, "Because the unknown outcome brings fear and hesitation, making people afraid to take the first step."
"I wanted to add you on WeChat while I was in the train carriage, but I was too timid and didn't have the courage."
"When the high-speed train arrived at the terminal, I began to regret it, thinking that I would not change and would miss it again. But then I saw that you, Sister Man, also stood up."
"I truly felt that this might be the only opportunity I would ever have in my life."
"So I waited for you at the cabin door, and then called you over!"
"hehe--"
Seeing the seriousness on the man's face, Xu Qingman smiled gently, "People born in the 2000s are so cute."
"What's wrong with Gen Z?"
Su Jie declared confidently, "I'm a real man too!"
"You're a man."
Xu Qingman picked up the herbal tea next to her and took a sip. "You're such a little man!"
Su Jie didn't argue. "I'm a little man, you're a big woman, okay?"
Xu Qingman asked, "Do you know how old I am?"
Su Jie shook his head. "I don't think it's important."
Xu Qingman held up one finger and said, "I'm nine years older than you. I'm already thirty-two this year!"
"I didn't notice."
Su Jie shook his head again, "I think you're only twenty-five or twenty-six years old."
"Besides, so what if he's nine years older? Is nine years a lot?"
"Nine years old isn't old enough?"
Xu Qingman laughed and retorted, "I'm already in high school, and you're only in first grade. You're not even as tall as my waist!"
I don't think it's that big.
Su Jie continued to shake his head, "He's only nine years old."
"Only nine years old?"
Xu Qingman shook her head. "You make it sound so easy."
"It was already very easy."
Su Jie said slowly, "When I was one year old, you were nine years old, nine times my age."
"When I was two years old, you were ten, five times my age."
When I was nine, you were eighteen, twice my age.
"There is still a lot of time ahead, and I will continue to move closer to you."
"Therefore, age is never a problem!"
Xu Qingman lightly licked her lips. "Smooth-talking, I wonder how many girlfriends you've had before?"
Su Jie said, "I've only talked to one person, and I just told you about it."
"What if I really started dating you?"
Xu Qingman shook her head again, "In a few years, I'll be old and lose my looks."
"You dumped me and will find someone new. I won't even have the strength to hang myself."
"If my best friends knew, they'd laugh at me for the rest of their lives!"
Su Jie didn't speak, but silently extended his hand.
"When I was a child, the school playground was being repaired, and a layer of turf was laid on it."
"During my lunch break, I saw a lollipop on the ground."
"I used countless feints to pick it up, but I didn't dare to eat it right away. Instead, I waited until school was over in the afternoon."
"I will always remember—"
"I was running alone on the edge of the paddy field, and I felt so happy. The whole world felt sweet!"
