Chapter 31: The Beachcombing Begins
Chapter 31: The Beachcombing Begins
Whether or not it carries passengers makes a big difference.
By the time Zhou Miao finally reached the charging station near the fish farm, the tricycle had just run out of power.
Fortunately, the crabs he was going to catch next didn't need to be sold at the seafood market, saving him the trouble of going back and forth.
After charging the tricycle, Zhou Miao brought the things he bought that morning to the boat and then arrived at Luo Hao's fishing raft.
He was busy cooking for customers in the kitchen, while Luo Qianqian was quite idle, sitting under a parasol cracking sunflower seeds.
Her eyes lit up when she saw Zhou Miao approaching, and she quickly got up and walked over: "I didn't see you guys fishing this morning, where did you go?"
"I didn't catch many fish, so I went to the seafood market. I brought the ingredients, the rest is up to you." Zhou Miao stuffed the beef, mutton, and other vegetables he bought that morning into her hands.
"Wow, so many?" Luo Qianqian couldn't carry them all and had to put them on the ground.
"I can still eat a lot, it all depends on whether your brother can handle it!" Zhou Miao said with a smile.
Since he was in charge of the ingredients for the dinner party, he certainly couldn't appear stingy. Oysters were fine, but he did buy quite a lot of beef and lamb.
"I'm going to be busy this afternoon!" Luo Qianqian sighed, then, noticing Lu Xiaoxiao wasn't there, asked, "Where's Xiaoxiao? Why don't you bring her over to help this afternoon?"
"I have something to do this afternoon. Her situation is a bit special; she needs to go fishing to earn money." He was joking, of course. He'd already paid for it; Zhou Miao wasn't going to come and do the work.
He also helped Lu Xiaoxiao refuse, because that girl is currently focused on making money, just like him.
"Making money by fishing?" Luo Qianqian's expression was strange.
Whenever the fishing raft was idle and there were no customers, she would go fishing with Luo Hao. But most of the time, they couldn't even cover the cost of the bait. She really couldn't think of a way to make a stable income by fishing.
However, since others were planning this way, she naturally couldn't say much.
But ever since Lu Xiaoxiao appeared, she has had one question she wanted to ask.
So she leaned forward slightly, revealing a gossipy look, and asked in a low voice, "Hey, what's your relationship with Xiaoxiao? You two seem really close!"
Little did he know, her T-shirt was a bit loose today, and he could see her entire snow-white figure.
"..."
It's also not good for the body to react too quickly; before the brain has even given the order, the eyes have already moved closer.
Round and nice!
But Zhou Miao didn't like to peek; he preferred to look openly. So he turned his head away and grabbed his collar, pulling it back and forth.
"It's so hot today! Don't you think so?"
"what?"
Luo Qianqian was initially puzzled as to why he suddenly and abruptly changed the subject.
Only after seeing his movements did she realize that her neckline was wide open and she was exposing herself.
She quickly covered her chest and stood up straight, her face flushed red, feeling both ashamed and embarrassed.
However, Zhou Miao's way of reminding her actually made her feel more favorably toward him.
When Zhou Miao noticed that she had noticed him, he took the initiative to talk about his relationship with Lu Xiaoxiao to change the subject and ease her embarrassment.
"Xiaoxiao's brother and I are childhood friends and have a very good relationship. I originally invested in a fish raft project with her brother, but her brother suddenly went out to sea and disappeared."
"Xiaoxiao is my good brother's sister after all. She came here all alone, so of course I have to take good care of her."
"Missing?" Luo Qianqian was taken aback, then she remembered something Luo Hao had told her last night after he came home.
"So it was Xiaoxiao's brother who went missing!"
"You know?" Zhou Miao asked in surprise.
"Yes, last night the police came to the fish raft to check the surveillance footage, saying that someone was missing. My brother mentioned it when he got home, but I never expected it to be Xiaoxiao's brother."
Luo Qianqian's face showed concern: "How is the situation now? Are there any clues?"
Zhou Miao sighed and shook his head: "We don't know either. The police station hasn't contacted Xiaoxiao these past few days. It's probably still early, so they haven't found anything yet."
"This..." Luo Qianqian didn't know what to say for a moment. After thinking for a while, she asked again, "Where are Xiaoxiao's parents? She's here, but why haven't her parents made a sound?"
"Her family situation is quite complicated; every family has its own troubles." Zhou Miao didn't want to talk about Lu Xiaoxiao's private affairs in front of others.
"I see!"
Luo Qianqian understood, and then felt a little sorry for her newly acquainted best friend, finally understanding why she would brave the wind and sun to go fishing with Zhou Miao.
"Then go ahead and do your own thing. I'll take care of the ingredients. Remember to come early tonight."
"it is good."
Zhou Miao returned to his fishing raft, put his diving equipment in the warehouse, and then went home for dinner.
As soon as he opened the door, he smelled a sour and spicy aroma.
"What did you cook for lunch? It smells delicious."
Lu Xiaoxiao heard the door open, turned around and saw Zhou Miao, then gave him a sweet smile.
"We're going out for barbecue tonight! So I made a tofu soup and stir-fried some hot and sour shredded potatoes for lunch."
"Yes, we should eat something simple at noon and save room for dinner," Zhou Miao agreed.
He glanced at the two dishes on the table and found them both quite good, especially the hot and sour shredded potatoes, which looked very appetizing.
Zhou Miao took the rice she brought and first tasted a bite of shredded potatoes.
This tastes...much better than he expected!
"Delicious! How did you stir-fry these shredded potatoes? I've tried to figure it out before, but I just can't get this really appetizing spicy and sour flavor. It's always just not quite right."
"I just followed the online tutorial to cook it!" Lu Xiaoxiao was a little embarrassed by the praise.
At noon, she used all her skills to cook two of her most familiar dishes.
"That means you're very talented in cooking, better than me."
"No, no, these are my only two signature dishes. I'm just more skilled at making them because I do it a lot. I'm not good at other dishes."
"That's still amazing!"
"Hehe... By the way, Brother Miao, your fish sold for 355 this morning. I've transferred the money to you, please accept it."
"Three hundred is not bad, how about yours?"
"I only have 260."
"Even after deducting costs, it's still over two hundred yuan, which is better than screwing in screws at the factory. When I have time, I'll go and buy some large Antarctic krill to make my own secret-recipe fish bait, which will further reduce costs."
"So you can make your own secret-recipe Antarctic shrimp!"
"Yes, it's not complicated, it just takes two days."
The Antarctic krill I bought from the fishing tackle shop were marinated in glycerin, so they weren't sticky to the touch and were all plump.
If you do it yourself, the cost might be reduced by half.
After lunch, they rested for a while. Zhou Miao took the initiative to wash the dishes, while Lu Xiaoxiao went inside to apply sunscreen.
When I came back to buy groceries at noon, I passed by a cosmetics store. Considering that I will be going out to sea often in the future, the wind and sun will have a big impact on my skin.
Secondly, she didn't want to get too tanned, so she went in and bought sunscreen.
After wiping their exposed skin, Zhou Miao washed the dishes, and then the two went out.
Considering that swimming crabs need oxygen to live longer, Zhou Miao specially bought several open tanks and then took a boat to the small beach.
Before Zhou Miao arrived here, he had already changed into a diving suit in the fish raft warehouse.
So now he just needs to put on his oxygen tank and go into the water to check out the situation and find a fishing spot.
He flipped backward into the water, and for a moment, Zhou Miao's vision blurred. The visibility around him was very low, and he could only barely observe the situation within about ten meters.
This is still green water; if it were yellow water, there would be no way to dive.
Because it was close to the beach and the waves were large, Zhou Miao dived down two meters.
The water here isn't deep, I'd estimate it's only about five meters.
He could see many inconspicuous bulges on the sand, and clearly, a crab was hiding under each of these bulges.
Just in the area he could see, there were probably dozens of bulges, no wonder the little beach was so troubled!
