Chapter 61 City People's Pets
Chapter 61 City People's Pets
When Song You received a call from Su Yunxi, her voice, cool yet tinged with anticipation, came through the receiver.
"Senior, where are you?"
"I just finished my chef's certification exam and I'm heading to Central South University. Will you wait for me at the East Gate?"
"Okay, I'll wait for you at the East Gate."
After hanging up the phone, Song You thought for a moment and then dialed Wang Guoming's number again.
The phone rang several times before being answered, and there was some background noise.
"Brother Song! Did you receive the goods?" Wang Guoming's voice sounded very happy.
"Received it, Brother Wang. It's too valuable, and it's a great trouble for Brother Zhao to make the trip." Song You said sincerely.
"Hey, don't be so polite with me!" Wang Guoming laughed on the other end. "My master and I have already arrived in western Hunan. The signal isn't very good in the mountains here. But one thing is for sure, these are all for practicing the 'boy's kung fu' in the early years. The younger you are, the better you can practice. You have a good foundation, but your methods are unorthodox. Just use them as a reference, and don't let them destroy your original skills."
"I understand." Song You felt a warmth in his heart.
"My master also said that he's doing field research to find inspiration, and he expects to be ready by the end of this month. Then he'll go to your place and officially start his bid for the title of Master Chef!"
"Okay, I'll definitely get the agritainment business all set up and ready, and look forward to your esteemed visit, Senior Wang."
After chatting for a few more minutes, Song You hung up the phone and put the heavy notebooks into his backpack.
He took a car to Central South University, but instead of going directly to the East Gate, he wandered around the area and found an inconspicuous corner based on his memory.
One of the iron fences there had long been bent by the students, creating a gap that only allowed one person to pass through at a time.
Song You easily slipped inside.
Years later, the paths on campus are still the same. He strolled around, watching young faces pass by, and felt as if he had returned to that carefree era.
He avoided the cafeteria; during his four years of university, he went there very few times, relying on takeout most of the time.
As he walked to the foot of a male dormitory building, he subconsciously looked up and saw a shelf specifically for food delivery orders.
Just then, a big, shiny yellow dog, with an air of nonchalance, skillfully snatched a serving of braised chicken rice from the takeout shelf and ran off.
The whole process was smooth and seamless.
Song You stopped in his tracks.
As he watched the big yellow dog disappear into the grove, long-dormant memories were instantly rekindled in his mind. It turned out that all those snail rice noodles and spicy hot pot dishes that had vanished years ago had ended up in its belly.
Immediately afterwards, a heartbroken shout came from upstairs: "Who is it! Who stole my takeout again! I just ordered it!"
Song You casually looked away, whistling as he walked towards the east gate.
At the East Gate, Su Yunxi was standing under a camphor tree. Today she was wearing a light blue dress, her long hair was draped over her shoulders, and she had a cool and aloof temperament, which attracted the attention of passing boys.
When she saw Song You walk out of the campus, a look of surprise appeared on her face.
"Senior? Why did you come out from inside?"
"Oh, the security guard saw that I looked friendly and let me in right away," Song You lied without batting an eye.
Su Yunxi didn't think much of it and stepped forward, saying, "Let's go, my cousin's house is nearby."
"Perfect timing, I just passed my Level 3 chef's certificate exam this morning," Song You said as he walked. "I also need to hurry up and get the agritainment business license and food safety license done, otherwise I won't feel at ease."
"Don't worry about that," Su Yunxi immediately replied. "My cousin is a lawyer, specializing in corporate legal affairs. She knows these procedures best. You can't go wrong with her."
The two arrived at an upscale residential area.
As soon as I entered the gate of the residential area, I saw a woman wearing a business suit but flat shoes, being dragged along by a pure white call duck with a helpless expression.
The duck had a pink leash around its neck, and it waddled along, full of energy.
The woman was Wen Qingyan.
Song You recognized her at a glance—the female lawyer who was working overtime at the law firm until her face turned pale, yet still maintained a flawless makeup.
Wen Qingyan also saw them. She stopped and rubbed her temples wearily.
"Yunxi, what brings you here?"
"Cousin, let me introduce you to a friend." Su Yunxi smiled and pulled Song You in front of her. "This is my senior, Song You. He runs a farmhouse inn and wanted to consult you about getting the necessary permits."
Wen Qingyan's gaze fell on Song You, and she nodded politely, but her eyes showed no emotion.
Clearly, she had no recollection of the young man who had delivered food before.
"Senior, this is my cousin, Wen Qingyan," Su Yunxi introduced.
"Hello." Song You extended his hand.
Wen Qingyan shook hands with him briefly, then quickly let go.
"Cousin, I've already talked to my senior about doing an internship at his farmhouse," Su Yunxi dropped the bombshell.
Wen Qingyan's expression froze instantly.
Her shrewd and sharp eyes, filled with undisguised suspicion, stared directly at Su Yunxi.
The heiress of Sushi Technology, instead of working at her family's company, went to intern at a farmhouse in a village.
What kind of rebellious script is this about running away from home?
Su Yunxi stood behind Song You, clasped her hands together, and gave her cousin a pitiful, pleading look.
Wen Qingyan took a deep breath and swallowed back the question that was on the tip of her tongue.
She looked at Song You again, her tone carrying a deeper meaning: "Oh, an internship? That's great. Boss Song, my Yunxi has never done any work since she was little, so you'll have to put up with her a lot."
Upon hearing this, Song You's heart skipped a beat.
Even her own cousin said so, so it seems this junior is really a bit clumsy.
He felt the burden on his shoulders suddenly become much heavier.
"Of course, of course," he replied politely.
"Gah! Gah gah!"
The call duck at Wen Qingyan's feet suddenly flapped its wings restlessly, circling around her ankle and making sharp cries.
"What's wrong, Wen Yaya? Are you throwing a tantrum again?" Wen Qingyan squatted down and helplessly comforted her pet.
"Cousin, what's wrong with it? It looks like it's in a lot of pain," Su Yunxi asked worriedly.
Wen Qingyan sighed, her face full of worry: "I don't know either. It's been like this all month, hyperactive, with no appetite, and doesn't sleep well at night, always fidgeting in its cage. I've taken it to the vet several times, but they can't find anything wrong."
Song You looked at the duck jumping around and had a sudden thought.
He urgently needs to get his documents processed, and if he can help his lawyer cousin, things might go much more smoothly.
"Attorney Wen, would you like me to take a look?" he offered. "I grew up in the village, so I know a little about the habits of these poultry."
Wen Qingyan looked up, her eyes filled with a hint of scrutiny, but she finally nodded: "Then I'll trouble you."
Song You squatted down, but instead of immediately reaching out to touch the duck, he closed his eyes and focused his mind.
