Chapter 60 Rejoice, Devout Believers
Chapter 60 Rejoice, Devout Believers
"John Wick, are you willing to fight for the greater good?"
John looked at Titus warily, his eyes flashing with a cold light.
"Jack, is this how you become a legend, taking over Vigo Tarasov's fortune and becoming the new Vigo Tarasov?"
Titus shook his head and said:
You've misunderstood me, my friend—
He casually picked up a file, which contained records from X Island about forcing children to provide special services to the local richest man, Z.
Vigo played the role of a pimp for high-end establishments. Little did Z, the tycoon, know that this old bastard Vigo would also give him a "video recorder" as a bonus when he made the introduction.
Titus handed it to John and said slowly:
"Look at these bastards! Do you think you can burn their sins to ashes? Isn't that a bit too good for them?"
John paused for a moment, having seen far too much along the way:
The brutal exploitation by high-ranking officials, the inhumane and extravagant exchanges of interests among the top class, and the rampant and despicable deals.
Therefore, John's survival rule has always been to protect himself, but Titus's words made him think of infinite possibilities, each of which harbored heavy consequences that he could not bear...
So John answered with his life's philosophy of life:
"There's nothing I can do to help."
Titus nodded and said:
"I don't need your help. My plan has always only included myself. You are the ones under my protection. But John, if one day you can't find the will to live... come find me."
"I can make you fight for a greater good, so that when you are old and frail, you will no longer regret wasting your life."
Titus meant it sincerely. It was entirely for John Wick's sake.
Because he knew that after Mr. John avenged his great enemy, he would surely fall into mourning for his deceased wife and the endless emptiness that followed.
Titus vaguely remembered that in the original story, John went to the desert alone to search for the ancient legends of the High Table because he was confused and wanted by the world.
He thought he could be freed, but the response he received was:
The kill order and expulsion were rescinded, but at the cost of cutting off his wedding ring finger and returning to serve the High Table as the infamous assassin Nightmare…
This made Titus ponder:
What the hell is the difference between this and Avici Hell? It's not even as good as the reclusive life at the beginning of John Wick!
John paused for a moment, then hesitated and said:
"Do you really have to do this? Is becoming a legend really that important to you?"
Titus replied:
"Actually, it's not as important as you say, but... wouldn't it be painful to see something and then pretend not to see it?"
"If we only intervene in one part of the problem, isn't that tantamount to covering up the wrongdoing of the other part? If that's the case, why not just go all the way and eliminate it completely?"
"Going to extremes?"
"That's right! With my broken body transformed into raging flames, I'll burn the entire North America to a crisp, inside and out!"
Titus felt incredibly smug when he said this, but he knew he wasn't much more enlightened than the hesitant Mr. John Wick, and his reason for being so resolute was simple.
Firstly, he has the confidence that the Space Marines possess physical attributes and the blessing of the Four Gods, and that he will only grow stronger with time.
So there are roughly three paths before him:
Superman, Homelander, living in seclusion (in reality, he followed the example of the ancients and went to South America to smoke and smoke women all the way).
Both of these tasks, based on the system's current assignments, involve apprehending criminals.
Then it seems that the path of living in seclusion is not easy. If he wants to become stronger, he must go out and do things.
Incidentally, Titus had little interest in becoming a superhuman figure, and maintaining that image in North America would have been quite difficult.
He currently prefers figures like the Dark Knight, guardians who exist between light and darkness.
Of course, he didn't have any of those ridiculous principles of not killing; in fact, he was quite happy to let his enemies return to the Golden Throne.
Seeing that John remained silent, Titus did not press him further.
It was a strange feeling, like hearing Johnny Silverhand shout that line out. He thought Johnny would suddenly blurt out, "Awesome, V!"
"There's no rush. I can wait for you, John."
"But now, I think we can finally take down that old bastard Vigo!"
The reason Titus had been lying low for so long was to gather evidence of the crimes committed in this underground treasure vault.
He still remembered the task that old bastard Crawford had given him:
Gather all evidence and arrest gangster Vigo Tarasov.
Titus planned to take three copies to deal with the FBI's mission, because if he handed them all over, the corrupt nepotism of the FBI's top brass would surely get him a general amnesty.
Moreover, the mission itself is very strange. Is Vigo the only mob boss in New York?
As far as he knew, there were twelve families, including the Italian Mafia's Santino, the Russian Mu tribe's "Director," and the Japanese Yakuza "Zero."
This information is difficult for ordinary people to obtain, but it is essential common sense in the world of assassins.
After all, those who didn't know would have been thrown into the sewers as fuel for the North American machine. So how could the high-ranking officials who hold the reins of power in North America not know?
Therefore, the arrest of Vigo Tarasov was clearly a political mission; someone at the top wanted to kill him or get something from him.
Titus's thoughts on this were:
He definitely wouldn't hand Vigo over to those old fogies at the top; once he got his hands on him, he'd immediately send him to the Golden Throne.
If pressed for details, he would say that the underground assassin world is complex and that he was forced to act in self-defense.
Or they could simply deny that Vigo's death was related to him.
As for your question about why we don't have recording devices, isn't that just nitpicking? Would an undercover agent have such a thing?
At worst, you can fire me. With the FBI as your backing, it's one approach; without it, it's a different approach.
Titus thought he remembered the dinner service process perfectly.
Just as he was about to leave, a faint sound beside him reminded him that he had forgotten something.
The old priest was speechless with astonishment at the incredibly informative dialogue between John and Titus, and asked in horror:
"Who exactly are you?"
Titus pondered for a moment and replied:
"Probably... the Holy Emperor and the Four Gods Executors."
He cocked the gun again and rambled on:
"Yesterday the Emperor appeared to me in a dream and bestowed upon me this Desert Eagle. He told me that any evil it ends will neither fall into hell nor go to heaven, but will instead be pierced by Warhammer 40K."
Titus saw the old priest begin to read the Bible in terror, pleading for the Lord's forgiveness and begging to be embraced by the Lord.
He knew his words had worked...
"As for what Warhammer 40 is, you'll find out when you go. Rejoice, devout believer, the gates to another world will open for you!"
May your soul rest in peace on the golden throne!
Titus pulled the trigger, and the Desert Eagle roared deafeningly…
