Chapter 239: Come Be Our Coach
Chapter 239: Come Be Our Coach
The police dog unit trainers brought forward several different breeds. Each one looked large and fierce, clearly possessing immense fighting prowess.
The most famous among them was probably the German Shepherd. This breed had been recruited by the German army as military dogs since World War I. After nearly a hundred years of development, it had become the most widely used dog for military and police work, possessing traits like a strong work ethic and obedience. Once trained, the fighting power of these police dogs was formidable. Furthermore, these particular German Shepherds from the Yunzhong City Police Dog Unit were decorated veterans who had completed numerous missions. The average criminal would be no match for them.
There was also the Dobermann, commonly known as the Doberman Pinscher. This dog actually had some similarities to Shi Gaofei. They both enjoyed vigorous exercise and were especially skilled at biting and holding. However, their temperament was more volatile and aggressive, and accidents could easily happen if they weren’t trained and supervised carefully.
Next to the Dobermanns were the Rottweilers. These dogs were strong, swift, and had a powerful presence, making them one of the most courageous and mighty breeds in the world. Their attacks were characterized by immense impact, a powerful bite, and savage tearing. Even trainers were at risk of injury if they weren’t careful.
These two Rottweilers also had their tails docked, which prevented them from getting in the way of their work or becoming injured and infected while moving through dense brush.
Of course, the police dog unit had more than just these breeds, but others like Labradors and Kunming Wolfdogs were typically used for different tasks, such as sniffing out drugs. Since they couldn’t compare to these breeds in terms of attack power, they weren’t brought along.
German Shepherds, Dobermans, and Rottweilers were all breeds that excelled at attacking. Normally, a single one was enough to take down a criminal. Even though the police dogs had already lost twice in a row, the trainers were still quite annoyed to hear Shen Yibin tell them to send them all in at once. "Heh, I’ll admit your Mongoose is impressive, but if all ten of these police dogs attack together, I’m worried it’ll be seriously injured, or even killed!"
’Police dogs might be tough, but can they really compare to hyenas in terms of ferocity? I’ve personally seen Shi Gaofei chase down and thrash a whole pack of them on the African savanna, and there were way more than ten hyenas in that pack.’
"It’s fine. Even if he can’t win, he can get away," Shen Yibin said, phrasing it to let them save some face. If one side really did end up fleeing, Shen Yibin was certain it wouldn’t be Shi Gaofei.
"Alright then. We’ll just consider this an eye-opener." The trainer was already upset about the consecutive losses, and Shen Yibin’s words made him a bit impulsive.
In no time, the trainers were ready. They unleashed the ten police dogs of various breeds and herded them into the training ground. The pack immediately surrounded Shi Gaofei, letting out low growls. Their eyes were locked onto him, warily watching his every minute movement, waiting for the slightest opening to swarm forward and tear him to shreds.
"Shi Gaofei’s not going to get hurt, is he?" Xia Shixuan asked nervously, clutching Sylvie’s arm. Even though she had seen the video of Shi Gaofei dominating a lion, she was still worried now that she saw so many police dogs.
"Don’t worry. He’s very smart. Even if he can’t win, he won’t get hurt," Sylvie replied. She had witnessed Shi Gaofei’s fights firsthand many times and had complete faith in him.
As they were speaking, Shi Gaofei made his move. He nimbly dodged and weaved through the dogs’ encirclement. The advantage of his low-slung body was now on full display; he had no need to worry about exposing the vital points on his chest and belly. Unleashing his instinct for dazzling footwork, he quickly threw the dogs’ formation into chaos.
Shi Gaofei began racing around the training ground with the police dogs in hot pursuit. However, thanks to his erratic movements, one of the dogs was soon isolated from the pack. Shi Gaofei immediately launched a sharp attack. The singled-out German Shepherd let out a pained howl and began to slow down, clearly badly injured.
Shi Gaofei broke free before the other dogs could close in, continuing to lead the remaining nine on a chase. Then, seizing another opportunity, he went after a straggler. The second victim was one of the Dobermans.
Truly an incredibly intelligent animal. Shi Gaofei’s cunning was on full display. He was like a master strategist, constantly manipulating the enemy’s formation and using his superior mobility to pick them off one by one. In no time at all, four police dogs were injured.
"Should we just call it a day?" Shen Yibin suggested. There was no longer any point in continuing the fight. It was only a matter of time before Shi Gaofei took down all of them; he couldn’t see any possibility of the police dogs winning.
The trainer, however, was hesitant. He had already accepted that the police dogs were likely no match for Shi Gaofei. Still, considering Shi Gaofei had already been through two fights, he thought they might be able to wear down his stamina. Perhaps when only two or three dogs remained, they could make the mongoose struggle a bit and salvage some face for the police dog unit.
It turned out he was being too optimistic. Shi Gaofei was the kind of creature who could chase Bear Grylls for six hours straight; this level of exertion was nowhere near his limit. His movements hadn’t slowed in the slightest and were just as swift and agile as in the first fight. The police dogs, on the other hand, were already panting heavily after being led around in circles a few times.
A few more minutes passed. Two more police dogs were out of the fight, lying in their trainers’ arms and whimpering softly in pain. Now only four remained in the ring.
"We surrender," the trainer said. He was still reluctant to admit defeat, but continuing would only lead to more injuries. They stood no chance against Shi Gaofei. To this point, not a single police dog had even managed to touch him. This was a battle on a completely different level.
"Shi Gaofei, back!" Shen Yibin called out to stop him, while the trainers also began calling their dogs back.
Whether it was because he’d had his fill of fun or simply out of disdain for the police dogs, Shi Gaofei was surprisingly obedient this time. At Shen Yibin’s call, he abandoned the remaining dogs and trotted over to his side.
After checking to make sure Shi Gaofei was unharmed, Shen Yibin went over to offer the police dog trainers a few words of consolation.
"It’s alright. They aren’t serious injuries. They’ll be fine after a couple of days’ rest," the trainer said with relief. Then he made another request. "Could you let Shi Gaofei come by regularly to help us with training?"
