Chapter 240: A bureaucrat, not a warrior.
Chapter 240: A bureaucrat, not a warrior.
Walking through the rugged, dense, and stifling forest, with the heavy air clinging to her skin like a second layer of clothing, it didn’t take long before Elena started to sweat.
As an Awakened in the third stage, she should have been much more resilient to this sort of thing, but in the end, almost all her attribute points were concentrated in intelligence.
Her stamina was indeed high compared to an ordinary human, but compared to other Awakened?
At the end of the day, she was nothing more than a fragile bureaucrat who could only level up because, fortunately, administrative work also provided XP.
"Ah..." Elena let out a weary sigh, letting herself slump onto a fallen log by the side of the road.
She was completely exhausted.
The tight neckline, which barely contained her enormous chocolaty tits, rose and fell with the rhythm of each labored breath, the soft mounds straining against the fabric with every gasp.
Her exposed dark skin glistened in the filtered sunlight, fine droplets of sweat trickling slowly down the deep valley between her ample bosom, disappearing into the shadowed depths of her cleavage.
In a gentle motion, she raised one hand and sank it between her breasts, her slender, delicate fingers swallowed up by the soft, heavy flesh of the two perfect mounds.
She stirred slightly, and her enormous tits wobbled around her fingers, the supple flesh undulating like jelly with each subtle movement, until she finally pulled a small handkerchief from within.
Bringing the white handkerchief to her forehead, she dabbed away the sweat with delicate touches.
Then she turned her face toward Ethan, who remained completely relaxed, as if the heat didn’t even affect him.
"How do you even stand this hellish heat? Luckily, the mansion has cooling systems to maintain a comfortable temperature," Elena said.
With an elegant movement, she rose to her feet again, her ample breasts bouncing heavily with the motion, swaying in slow, weighty arcs before settling back against her chest.
"You wouldn’t be suffering so much if you weren’t ignoring Evelyn’s calls to train with her," Ethan replied, stretching lazily right in the middle of the road, his arms reaching overhead.
"Fufu~ I am a bureaucrat, my lord, not a warrior. The only training suitable for me is with a pen," Elena said with a light chuckle, approaching him with slow steps.
Her full breasts squeezed against his chest, the soft flesh flattening against the fabric of his shirt, molding obediently around the firmness of his masculine torso.
Her slender fingers slowly climbed his arms until they came to rest on his broad shoulders.
"Come on, sweetheart, the wind from your run should cool my body down... If you want to head straight to Azur Lake Beach too, I wouldn’t complain... the lake water is really nice on hot days like this," Elena purred, letting herself be lifted into Ethan’s arms without any resistance.
"Hm... not now," Ethan shook his head as he adjusted her soft body against his chest. "I still have a lot of work to do. You do, too."
He leaned down, planting a soft kiss on her lips, and then shot back toward Goldenveil, the wind beginning to whistle past them as his speed increased.
Even though she was slightly disappointed, Elena didn’t complain.
In fact, she had plenty to do as soon as she returned to the mansion, especially the final details regarding what would become the future mining town Ethan planned to found.
Now, having surveyed the terrain a bit more carefully, she already had a much better idea of which path to take.
Unlike Goldenveil, which was first and foremost a city and, secondarily, a fortress, the mining town would be more of a fortress than a city per se.
Not that there was any personal reason for this; the terrain was simply perfect for it.
The location sat on one of the best routes to reach the city, and any army seeking to attack Goldenveil would have to pass through there.
Otherwise, they’d have to cross a few more kilometers of rugged forest, or end up trapped in a siege where establishing functional supply routes would be nearly impossible.
Ultimately, that town would serve a dual purpose: a center for iron extraction and refining, and a shield protecting Goldenveil from any army that dared to march in from the West.
Without dwelling on it further, Ethan quickened his pace, dashing toward Goldenveil at full speed, the trees blurring into streaks of green and brown around them.
He only stopped when he reached his mansion, gently setting Elena back down on the ground.
She smiled elegantly as she smoothed out her windswept hair and slightly wrinkled clothes, then leaned in to place a soft kiss on Ethan’s lips before stepping into the mansion.
Ethan followed her in silence, a relaxed smile spreading across his face.
"I’ll finish everything I have for the new city today. Tomorrow morning, I’ll give you the blueprint, okay?" Elena said, turning to him with that same elegant smile as always.
He nodded softly, lowering one hand to give her plump butt a firm slap.
"Thanks, love." He leaned down, gripping her butt tightly, his fingers sinking deep into the soft, elastic flesh until it bulged out around them.
Placing one last kiss on her lips, he finally released her so she could get to work.
Watching the beauty walk away, her full hips swaying hypnotically with each step, the plump curves of her ass bouncing in rhythm, Ethan let out a quiet sigh.
He then made his way through the mansion until he reached the garden, where he found Ophelia alone, her eyes closed, simply enjoying the soft singing of the birds.
"Are you okay?" Ethan asked as he approached, taking a seat next to her on the bench.
"Hm~ I’ve been worse, haha," Ophelia chuckled, though the sound carried a subtle bitterness.
Honestly, she was more frustrated by her own inability to feel pain over her son’s death than by the death itself.
She admitted to herself that she had spoiled him too much, ignored too many signs over the years.
The bullying at school. The temper tantrums.
It was only after coming into this world that he allowed himself to become a true monster, and yet, as his mother, she had supported him through it all.
Fortunately, now, she was free of that burden.
She was no longer the mother of a monster.
Ophelia let out a long sigh, then looked at Ethan with deep, thoughtful eyes before standing up and stopping in front of him.
