Chapter 1016 - 52: The Hunt
Within the narrow face armor, the intense gunfire reverberated repeatedly in Lorenzo’s ears, nearly robbing him of his hearing.
After a moment of suppression, the pirates gradually launched a counterattack. They carried various modified firearms and fired at the Black Angel, countless bullets striking the cold armor and sparking.
The Black Angel raised its arm, slender and sharp iron feathers grew along the edge of the arm, spreading to the shoulders and underarms, gently caressed by the sea breeze, they swayed slightly like thousands of suspended blades.
"It’s here!"
The pirates exclaimed.
The sound of a heartbeat roared, pumping violent blood to every inch of flesh, the revived flesh drove the mechanics, in turn, propelling this forbidden armor.
The Black Angel moved swiftly, carrying barely any armament to maximize mobility, like a delicate and deadly dagger.
Hook cables shot across a short distance towards the pirates, directly piercing a pirate’s chest, and then pinning into the deck behind him.
The smell of blood was washed away by the heavy rain, the pirates, with bloodshot eyes, hoarsely fired again.
The Black Angel did not respond, only the hook cable began to retract, straightening in an instant, this anomaly extinguished the pirates’ fury with a shock of death.
Although they didn’t understand how this Demon operated, they were well aware that the Black Angel could move between different ironclad ships using this hook cable.
This death hook cable lifted the Demon from the storm, in the blink of an eye the Black Angel unfurled its wings, supported by the strong wind, instantaneously reached the pirates and brushed past them.
Bodies of flesh were cross-cut by thousands of sharp blades, they couldn’t even utter a wail.
Lorenzo had little experience with naval battles, let alone piloting the Black Angel in such a fight, but in this brief time, he had already grasped some tactical insights.
In this bumpy and harsh environment, the Black Angel seemed fierce but was also limited in mobility. While destroying the first ironclad ship, Lorenzo, due to not keeping his balance and the Black Angel’s heavy weight, slid off the tilting deck into the sea.
Fortunately, just before falling into the sea, the Black Angel’s blade cut through the ironclad ship’s armor, Lorenzo followed the fixed cannon’s mouth and directly killed into the lower deck.
With prior lessons learned, Lorenzo began to try using the hook cable to drag the Black Angel for movement. Though cumbersome, it ensured actions within expectations and fixed him in place during uncontrolled moments.
Like a rapidly advancing blade, the Black Angel, resembling a storm, destroyed everything on the ironclad ship’s deck, even the tall masts began to falter and finally collapsed under its attack.
No wonder these Viking pirates lost their courage, after all, they had never faced an enemy like Lorenzo, especially in such severe weather conditions.
"Complete victory..."
Captain Notar stared dazedly at this spectacle, the Black Angel’s rampaging form clearly visible against the firelight.
The pirates might not see the Black Angel’s trajectory, but standing aboard the Morning Glow Advance, Notar saw the entire process. Once the Weapon Master began to light up the sea and suppress the area, the Black Angel initiated action.
Using the height difference, it leapt upward, the somewhat lightweight armor primarily designed for gliding to some extent, allowing Lorenzo to return alive from the Reichenbach. But when aided by external forces, it achieved short flight.
The fuel tank mounted on the Black Angel’s back ignited at the moment of elevation, the lacquered antimony erupted with unimaginable heat, propelling the Black Angel into the sky.
This might be the most nonsensical tactic Notar had ever seen.
This wasn’t truly flying, rather than saying it flew, it was more accurate to say the Black Angel was blasted skyward by the fuel tank, then unfolded its wings, blending its dark silhouette into the night, skimming over the sea, searching for targets guided by the Spear of Melting’s illumination.
Everyone soon understood what followed. The hook cable pierced through the air, locked onto the target, then the Black Angel descended from the sky.
Notar had never witnessed such a bizarre boarding battle in his life, his gaze shifted, landing on the Blue Jade beside him, the woman wore an expression of calm, utterly unsurprised by these occurrences.
What kind of individuals did I carry aboard this ship?
Notar was merely a helmsman, unaware of the Morning Glow Advance’s equipment list, he forced himself to stay calm, recalling the Purification Mechanism’s guidelines, abandoning that damned curiosity.
"How many... remain?"
The Black Angel’s actions paused, it stood amidst the burning wreckage, its gaze directed toward other areas of the sea.
Lorenzo had already destroyed three ironclad ships in succession, significantly easing the pressure on the Morning Glow Advance, and thanks to the outdated communication technology, the pirates couldn’t inform others of the Black Angel’s arrival in time, they themselves were unaware of what this thing was.
The following matters were easier to handle, like the pirates, Lorenzo needed no survivors, all pirates who had seen the Black Angel had to die.
Walking into the wreckage, Lorenzo prepared to follow his previous strategy, destroying the interior to disassemble the ironclad ship.
