Chapter 1218 - 1218: Seed of Doubt
Chapter 1218 - 1218: Seed of Doubt
"What do you mean?" Randolf asked with a confused gaze.Aldrian smiled when he saw this.
"Let me tell you something interesting. At this moment, your god is in trouble, you know? He is fighting with Tarius because Tarius already knows about your god's plan. Do you know what happened after that?"
Randolf's eyes widened as his body trembled.
"What are you talking about?" His voice shook.
"You don't have to deny it. I know that your presence here, in the First Heaven itself, is unknown to the other invading gods. I have to say that Avergis was quite a naughty god, making his own move without telling anyone. He is indeed a greedy god." Aldrian said as he brought his face closer to Randolf's while still pressing his knee against Randolf's face.
"But thanks to that greed, the situation in the higher heavens is in a mess. Just imagining Tarius fuming at your god and fighting him already gives me delight."
Randolf gritted his teeth. He did not know how Aldrian knew about his god's plan, but he did not believe what Aldrian had said.
Tarius already knew about his god's plan? How could that be?
The only ones who knew about it were him, his god, and a few others from his god's side. They made sure that their movements were discreet so they would not be detected by the other gods in their own alliance.
If even their own allies did not know, then of course the rebel side should never know. But even if Aldrian, who was an apostle of an unknown god from the rebel side, knew about his existence as an apostle, Aldrian still should not know that he had come here secretly.
Aldrian should think that he and Tarius' apostle were cooperating! There was no way Aldrian could know that he was in the First Heaven secretly without even Tarius knowing! How could he know something that not even Tarius or the other gods from their side knew?
No, there was no way that could be possible!
"I don't know what you are talking about. Stop spouting nonsense. If you want to kill me, then kill me, you bastard!" Randolf said ferociously.
"Well, that sounds good, but I have a much better use for you if you stay alive," Aldrian said with a smile.
"With you alive, the higher heavens would become much more festive once I ascend. Just thinking about it fills me with anticipation. Even though your god already abandoned you, you are still useful, you know?"
"My god did not abandon me and will not leave me!" Randolf shouted as he tried to blow himself up.
"Nuh uh, you don't do that in my presence." Aldrian said as he punched Randolf's back, right behind his dantian.
Randolf shouted in pain as he felt his dantian shake, disturbing the flow of energy he tried to use to commit suicide. He then felt his dantian getting sealed, making him unable to control the energy within it at all.
After sealing Randolf's cultivation, Aldrian lifted his knee and grabbed Randolf's hair, raising his head so Randolf's eyes looked directly at him.
"I don't care whether you believe it or not, but that is the truth. In fact, even before you came and told me your problem, I already knew about every one of your problems and the cause of it. I know the cause of your family's power weakened, and I know why your system is malfunctioning," he said.
Randolf's heart trembled. Aldrian knew about his system's problem?
"You must be wondering how that could happen. Well, you already have your answer. Your god is in a great fight with Tarius. In your opinion, what do you think your god would do if his plan in the First Heaven was discovered by others, hm?" Aldrian continued.
"Your god must already know about me through you. By abandoning you, he had already given up on you and decided you were better off dead here. To him, you are nothing more than a chess piece in the grand scheme."
Randolf still showed an indignant expression toward Aldrian, but doubt had already started growing within that gaze.
Of course, Randolf knew the possibility of what his god would do if this plan were exposed. Such a move was common whenever something like this happened.
If what Aldrian said was true and his god was in a great fight with Tarius, then his god would have to focus on mending the situation.
One of the ways was to cut off everything related to the First Heaven, even his own followers here. That included severing his connection to his apostle to lessen the negative effects of the aftermath.
Why would he do that?
It could be compensation for Tarius. It could be so his god could escape the problem more easily. It could be for this or that.
Randolf could think of several reasons why his god might do that.
He knew that most likely his god would do exactly that if the situation truly came to a desperate point.
But he still did not want to believe that his god would abandon him.
His powerful god, who had placed trust in him until this point, suddenly abandoning him?
He did not want to believe it!
Randolf gritted his teeth. "I don't believe you! How could you know something that happened in the higher heavens? The First Heaven's central region is already under the control of God Tarius' followers."
"Even if someone from the rebels in the higher heavens knew what happened, they would have no way to send the news back to the lower heavens. No one from your rebel side could tell anything from the higher heavens. Even if somehow your god tried to use the system to tell you, the other gods from our side would detect it. You are only spouting nonsense."
Aldrian shrugged.
"Well, it's your problem if you don't believe it, and it's not my intent to convince you. I already told you what I know, and it's up to you how to act." He then released Randolf's head, causing it to slam onto the table.
Even though Aldrian released him, Randolf did not try to attack or do anything. He simply remained silent.
"If you can find a more reasonable explanation for why you and your family are experiencing those problems, then that's up to you. I only said what I know, and that is also the truth. Or do you think I could do something like severing your connection to your god?" Aldrian continued before smiling.
"And I'm serious when I said that if you want your family to get out of their trouble, they only need to cultivate the Valroy family's old cultivation technique again. Although those who already cultivated using the cultivation technique given by the system will have to destroy their foundation, that is still much better than the current situation."
"Your family's situation is already terrible anyway, and if they don't do something, they will only keep getting weaker until the Valroy family completely falls. They would be no different from waiting for death while many of your family's enemies and rivals are eyeing your family's position."
Randolf still remained silent because he could not say anything anymore. His feelings and mind were already in a mess.
The seed of doubt that had already been buried inside his mind made him unable to think clearly.
Aldrian could sense it clearly, and it looked like Randolf had much more genuine feelings toward his god than Zhang Haoran did.
If Zhang Haoran mainly considered Tarius as the source of power for his revenge, then Randolf genuinely revered Avergis and held deep trust in him. The fact that Randolf's mind and emotions had become this chaotic even though Aldrian had only planted a seed of doubt already showed that clearly.
That also meant the circumstances surrounding Randolf in his past life when he met Avergis were different compared to when Zhang Haoran met Tarius.
"No… my god did not abandon me. He did not abandon me…" Randolf suddenly murmured. He gritted his teeth and looked viciously at Aldrian. He wanted to say something, but he could not force the words out. He wanted to shout something to convince himself that Aldrian was wrong, but for some reason he could not say it.
After hearing no more response from Randolf, Aldrian spoke again.
"Anyway, I have my own goal, and that is to purge all of the invaders' influence from this universe. So you must know what that means, right? You, your family, and anyone who already became the invaders' followers only have two choices."
"Leave those gods or die. You should be thankful to me that I already showed enough generosity to give you and your family the choice to leave him instead of outright slaughtering all of you just like Tarius' followers."
"Fortunately, you did not cause much destruction in the First Heaven like Tarius' followers did, and that is the sole reason why I am giving you a chance."
"However, although I would prefer not to shed blood, I will still take extreme measures if you or your family choose the wrong option."
Aldrian then fell silent as his gaze remained on Randolf's silent figure.
After a few moments of silence, Aldrian spoke again.
"I'll give you time to think here, and you cannot leave this room. Oh, and you also cannot commit suicide. I will not let you die."
Aldrian then disappeared, leaving behind the forlorn figure of Randolf.
